Homeschooling and Socialization

The biggest criticism of homeschooling is when you homeschool your child you deprive your child of socialization with other kids.

But parents who homeschool have solved that problem by organizing play dates, field trips, and other events with parents that also homeschool so the kids can socialize with one another.

Kids who are homeschooled can also play on community sports teams, take community classes like swimming or crafts, and do other things to provide socialization.

Child behaviorists say that homeschooled children are often much more socialized and behave better in public than kids who attend traditional school.

Homeschooling and Academics

The second biggest criticism of homeschooling is that kids don’t get as good of an education when they are homeschooled.

In some cases that may be true, since most of the time the quality of the education that a child gets from homeschooling is directly proportional to the education of the parent that is teaching.

But, a majority of the children that are homeschooled get a very good education, equivalent or better than they would get in a traditional classroom.

This has been proven by standardized test scores, where homeschooled children often do better than kids who attend traditional school.

In fact, more and more colleges and universities are attempting to recruit homeschooled teenagers because they have found that homeschooled kids are more likely to have a better basic education and have great study habits.
