People have been trained to look for the sign that says the bank is FDIC insured, as if this means that all their money is protected.

In fact, only part of your money is protected and above this amount you are responsible for any losses you may incur.

This is pretty gutsy seeing as the money really has no real world value anyway because it is not backed by anything of value.

The gold standard has become so obliterated that it is not even taught to school children when they learn about the currencies of the world.

When the country was founded people would carry gold and silver coins with them that were worth whatever the weight of the coin was.

The coins were standardized in order to allow an easier payment between merchants without having to weigh the currency.

The government soon devised a plan in which they would issue a paper currency that would represent the gold coins being used.

The notes that were given would allow the holder, at any time, to go to a federal bank and turn it in for the equivalent weight in gold.

This is what the gold standard was based on, but the country has not seen this standard in decades.

The currency used today is what is known as a fiat currency, because the only value it has is the value that people assign to it.

By using a currency that has no value, the elite are able to print as much of it as they need to in order to lend it to the government.
