Barack Obama on the Second Amendment
Questions Posed to Barack Obama on the Second Amendment Reveal Unconstitutional Sympathies.
When the United States Constitution was drafted, the framers sought to preserve all the rights they felt were necessary for a truly free country.
These focused directly on the rights of the individual and sought to put safeguards in place against the government becoming over powerful.
The Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the Constitutions, is comprised of the primary rights free people should have in a free government.
The second of these amendments directly states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Unfortunately, the federal government has taken it upon itself to do exactly that.
Second amendment rights have been violated in varying forms in nearly every state as well as through federal policy.
Many US citizens are afraid of what the future might hold for these rights, and so are justly concerned about the views of President Barack Obama on the second amendment.
A quick review of the presidential debates and statements made by Obama since then, there may be good reason to worry.

When officials at select presidential debates questioned Barack Obama on the second amendment, the then-candidate replied that he believes the second amendment rights must be upheld, but that the government must regulate that right.
If the amendment reads that the right shall not be infringed upon, how can it be upheld if it’s being regulated?
To date, gun control measures such as the Brady Act have been wholly ineffective in reducing or eliminating gun violence.
In fact, all the Brady Act served to do was establish a system by which all lawful buyers of firearms have their activities logged, effectively registering every lawful firearm owner in the country.
Firearm Licensing
The views of Barack Obama on the second amendment are questionable. Currently, Obama has been championing the Blair Holt’s Act, which is an amendment to the Brady Act which would require licensing of every gun owner.
These licenses would have to be renewed regularly and could be taken away for a number of offenses, including relatively minor offenses completely unrelated to firearms.
A licensing procedure in which the right to bear arms may be arbitrarily revoked is most definitely a violation of the second amendment rights and should never be allowed.
Imminent Danger to Gun Rights
What Americans have heard in the news concerning Barack Obama on the second amendment is certainly cause for alarm. At every turn, Obama has taken the route favoring gun control.
He is alleged to have supported several pieces of legislation which would allow even more unconstitutional gun control, though luckily those did not pass.
Amongst the legislation he reportedly favors, it is said that Obama supported the Ammunition Accountability act which would have raised the price of ammunition well beyond the reach of average citizens.
Gun rights have been protected by the Constitution, but if legislation is allowed to follow its current course may become a thing of the past. A people disarmed are a people under tyranny.
