Big Brother and Surveillance in Today
Today, Big Brother and Surveillance are Destroying our Independence and Social Structure.
It may be a popular TV show but it doesn’t take away from the fact that we’re back in a time when the government needs to be feared. Today, Big Brother and surveillance have become an everyday part of life.
Perhaps the only difference is the fact that we’re not objecting as much as we may have back in the Cold War days. That was when our enemy was a foreign nation.
Today, the biggest enemy is our own government. Under the guise of national security, our own officials are subjecting us to a humiliation and loss of dignity never witnessed before.
Not only have they taken away our economic security, they are now monitoring every movement we make. The question begs to be asked; Why and what for?
Big Brother and surveillance have become the scourge of the American society which used to pride itself on openness and freedom. A society known across the world, historically, as the free world.
Constant State of Fear
Today, Americans live in a constant state of fear, thinking that terror may strike anytime. This has led to policy making at the federal level, supposedly designed to deter terrorists or catch them in the act.
The truth of the matter is, it is neither effective nor is it practical.
Policies in the government are being made and influenced by powerful greedy people who intend to squeeze every penny out of the terror in the minds of American people.
They design policies around national security which enable them to wield more power and control and every more money. These people are the real Big Brother and surveillance is their primary tool.
People are being fooled into believing that the encroachment on their freedoms is an acceptable sacrifice in the light of terrorist threats in the United States.
The truth is neither the officials nor the war on terrorism has really any foundation in reality.
Surveillance Society
For years and years, the American people were known all over the world as the leaders in innovation, social development and business.
Today, we stand in mockery as every country in the world has abandoned the American people for the administrations’ materialistic and dishonest policies.
Our openness, freedom and liberties made us the leading nation in the world.
Our open society helped us innovate, think ahead and create and nourish ideas like no other country in the world, which made the United States the pride as well as envy of the world.
Not only is Big Brother a violation of our constitutional rights, it’s a serious dent in our ability to lead the world in terms of our economic, social and developmental strength.
Do We Know who We are Anymore?
Is this the kind of society America wants to be? Surveillance helps in only watching historical videos of terrorists in the act. How it will actually prevent terrorism is a dubious notion.
If suicide bombers feared being caught, we would be a very different world.
If we are to rediscover the pride of America and the respect of all the nations around the world, we need to rethink the way we conduct ourselves.
We need to scrap Big Brother and surveillance should become very selective to the point that we don’t violate an American individuals privacy.
