A Look at the Declaration of Independence Importance in a Time of a Tyrannical Government is Vital. We Must Fight for the Freedom and Rights We Have Lost.

Now is a time in history when all Americans need to take a close look at the Declaration of Independence importance and relevance in society.

We must remember what our Founding Fathers fought for and stop the leaching of our Constitutional rights and freedoms.

At the time of the preparation of the Declaration the citizens of the thirteen colonies which made up the country were being ruled by the overbearing British government.

They were being forced to pay outrageous taxes and had no say in governmental affairs and no representation in the government.

For these reasons alone the Continental Congress put together a five man team to write a declaration to the king to formally free themselves from his domineering ways.

Thomas Jefferson, who is credited for writing most of the Declaration of Independence, went to work and in a few weeks the document was approved by the colonists and sent to print.

With the writing of this document the American people for the first time in history had freedom to create a government with democratic ideals.

They created a government where each individual of the colony had some say in the way the governmental business would function.

The document was read aloud at Independence Hall where it rallied the troops to continue fighting and eventually win the American Revolution against the British oppression, which showed the Declaration of Independence importance from the beginning.

It was a time in history when a few men stood together and changed a nation and its people.

The Declaration of Independence is ever present in today’s society just as it was in the times of the American Revolution.

Now, though, the President’s administration is taking some of the same liberties the British were taking with the colonists of 1776.

Through unfair taxing of its people, the government is creating a society where the norm is poverty for its citizens who cannot see the light at the end of a tunnel of enormous debt.

The country in fact is in more debt than it has ever been in history.

The citizens of the United States, much like the colonists of 1776, have little say in government affairs.

How can the American people stand behind a government that is squandering their money, making the public pay for their financial mistakes through taxes, and taking away civil liberties with the swipe of a pen?

Present Government Involvement

The present government is passing laws and constitutional amendments that are taking away basic rights of its citizens and for the most part the citizens have no say in the matters that are directly hindering them.

People are being thrown in jail with no explanations or trials. Big Brother is always watching, listening, and compiling information from private conversations and e-mails.

Closed circuit cameras are being installed in every city in order to keep a better eye. When will it stop?

Have we forgotten the Declaration of Independence importance in regards to freedom?

Let Today be a New Day

Much like the colonists in 1776, the American population will need to stand together and realize the Declaration of Independence importance before anything positive can happen.

It is time that the people of a great nation once again declare their needs to a corrupt government with officials who are taking basic rights away daily.

Together and only as a group will the fight against an overbearing government be successful and changes will changes be made.

Let today be the first day of a new democratic country with the ideals as they were set forth in the Declaration of Independence.
