Conspiracy Facts on John Wilkes Booth And His Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. 


Theories are told about John Wilkes Booth’s killing of Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865 and his death on the Garrett Farm a few weeks thereafter for the better part of the last century.

Was John Wilkes Booth solely responsible for the death of President Lincoln and was his body actually the one pulled from the Garrett Farm on that fateful night?

May people have been accused of aiding John in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and many books contain facts on John Wilkes Booth and his connections with prominent members of the community.

Some people, including Abraham Lincoln’s wife feel that Andrew Johnson was a co-conspirator in the killing of Lincoln.

The day of the assassination, Mr. Booth went to the Washington Hotel where Andrew Johnson was staying and asked for him before he left him a note at the front desk.

A special committee was even formed by Congress to investigate Johnson’s involvement and although no evidence was found members of the community still wonder about his involvement.

Another story regarding the facts on John Wilkes Booth and his involvement is that he was brought into the plan to kill Lincoln by then Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton.

It was thought that Stanton was upset because of Lincoln’s placid stance with regard to the Reconstruction policies and wanted him out of office so that he could put into place a stricter plan.

It was thought that Stanton also had a hand in the reason the President did not have troops watching him on the night of the fatal shooting by making plans for Lincoln’s bodyguard to attend meetings.

The first theory that arose after the killing of Lincoln was that it was a plot by the confederacy because of the coded letters found in Booth’s room proving that he was linked to the confederacy.

At the time of the assassination plot’s conception, the Confederate force in the war was dwindling and they were determined they needed a plan to win the war.

Many think that the plot was to kidnap Lincoln but after many failed attempts, the plan was changed to assassinate Lincoln.

Lincoln attending a play at the theater fit right into their plan, and their agent, Booth, was the last piece the needed to make the plan work.



Theories After Death

There are many facts on John Wilkes Booth after his death which caused people to wonder if it was actually him that was killed in the Garrett Farm on April 26, 1865.

Many believe that Booth actually escaped that night and another man was killed in order for the Federal Troops to evade embarrassment.

The friends of Booth who viewed the body after the shooting have all said that the man that was killed on the farm was not Booth.

In fact, in 1903 while on his death bed a man named David George confessed that he was in fact John Wilkes Booth.


The Mummy of John Wilkes Booth?

Although many did not believe that Mr. George was Booth, he had an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Booth and his body was mummified and kept until his identity could be better determined.

The mummy of booth was bought by Finnis Bates who brought it to the circus as a sideshow.

Later an autopsy was performed on the mummy, but all that could be told was that the mummified remains had a broken leg and thumb, it could not be determined if the mummy was actually Booth.
