How are Personal Codes of Ethics Formed?

All of us Have Personal Codes of Ethics Developed With The Help of The Influences in Our Lives.

Ethics are a funny thing, because they differ from person to person in the world, nobody hold a code of ethics which is exactly the same as another persons.

While each person’s ethical code is different than other peoples, most of them are essentially the same.

The difference between the personal codes of ethics for most people would boil down to the way they explain them.

A personal code of ethics does not need to be written down, it does not even have to be formally thought out.

The code of ethics of a person is simply shown in the way they lead their lives, how they behave on a daily basis.

The ethics of a person are formed early in life, they are shaped by the people who hold strong influences with them.

The influences in a persons life are what make them who they are and are what teaches them to differentiate what is right from what is wrong.

When people have inappropriate influences in their lives who are promoting negative ideals and ethics are where people start going wrong.

The Code

Every person lives by a code of some sort, these are personal codes of ethics.

Each person has things which they view as wrong, things which they will not do.

Even people with ethics which the rest of us view as flawed, live by a code of some sort.

There is a show on the Showtime network called Dexter. On this show, the main character is a serial killer.

As a young child, he was present for the brutal murder of his mother and was found sitting in a pool of blood.

This incident damaged the child to his core, and as he grew up he found that he enjoyed hurting animals, and then humans.

The adoptive father of the character used his influence to shape the characters personal codes of ethics.

Dexter lives by a strict code instilled in him by his adoptive father.

He does not see a problem with killing people, but he will only kill people who are guilty of serious crimes, and have been a harm to society.

Businesses

Many businesses have started outlining ethical guidelines by which business is to be conducted.

This is likely because people’s personal codes of ethics influence all aspects of their lives, and if a person has a different code of ethics than most, they will bring that into the business areana.

Even though many businesses are providing ethical guidelines, big businesses are all too often operating unethically.

Disney has been reducing salaries and paying pennies to workers in foreign countries, but their chairman was making over a hundred thousand dollars per hour.

Wal-Mart has been accused of gender discrimination, and of working employees just enough to not have to provide benefits.

Coca-Cola has been accused of contracting to overseas factories where the owners uses armed units to intimidate the workers.

These are huge multinational companies and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
