Obama Tea Party Rallies
Obama Tea Party Protests Tell the Government to Stop Repressive Taxation.
While there are many causes of the Revolutionary War, one action that pushed us towards war with England was the Boston Tea Party.
This organized and calculated move by the colonists of Boston galvanized the nation and encouraged people throughout all thirteen colonies that resistance to the tyranny of the British was possible.
It also hardened the British parliament allowing them to send more troops and pass more restrictive laws on the people, which only increased the resolve of the rebels more.
The Boston Tea Party was a result of unfair taxation by the British on the colonies.
Many colonists saw themselves as Englishmen and were shocked to see the British parliament implement taxes on them with no representatives in the body as British law mandated.
The lessons of the Boston Tea Party and the Revolution resonate today and can be seen most recently in the formation of the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition.
This group aims to stop the overspending of the federal government, hold politicians accountable for their fiscal actions and remove the tyrannous yoke of excessive taxes used to supplement the rich and corporate system.
Many are referring to a protest of this kind as an Obama tea party, citing the latest mammoth bailout-spending program our government has embarked upon.
Between bailouts and stimulus packages the government has spent almost $2 trillion dollars, most of which has gone to helping giant corporations stay alive or increase their wealth.
Political Elite
We are truly facing a situation very similar to that of colonial America and the Boston Tea Party.
A ruling elite that has little or no connection to the masses dominates our nation.
These political elite are spawned from the wealthiest ranks of society.
While not all are born into this life, those who attend the right schools, get the right jobs and make the right connections are vaulted into the world of power and wealth.
This elite class controls almost all aspects of business, politics and the military, only bothering with the masses when an election is drawing near.
Being a politician used to be seen as a duty in our country that those who were willing should assume.
Now it is seen as a vehicle by which people can make a name for themselves, milk a lucrative career and be assured a job until they die or retire.
Getting into office is expensive and you must have the support of big money, which in this country means large corporations and the wealthy elite.
In order to get re-elected you must make sure these people get a proper return on their investment.
Play this game and you can make a career for yourself that will catapult you into the highest ranks of American society.
Need for Change
Those that tax us no longer represent us. While corporations and the elite who corrupt our politicians are at fault here, voters are also to blame.
They throw their support behind one party or another and vote along party lines not knowing or caring what these people are doing with their power.
If we held politicians accountable for their actions instead of buying the campaign speeches or falling for their pandering moves, we might have a chance at true change.
Yet, the ruling elite will not allow this to happen without a struggle.
They will use all of their political influence, their control of the media and their money to stop any grass roots campaigns from taking hold and waking this nation up.
