The American Domestic Surveillance System Proves Ineffective
The American Domestic Surveillance Excuse for Legalized Government Spying Examined.
American Domestic Surveillance has become a big joke in recent years.
The National Security Agency (NSA), one of the arms of US Government Intelligence, has been involved in domestic surveillance.
This was accomplished by the NSA through the Total Information Awareness (TIA) Program.
Under this program, Americans were spied and their conversations were recorded and replayed numerous times to determine whether there are any terrorists operating on American soil.
What the NSA failed to realize was that it is an infringement of privacy. America is a democracy and the role of the US Government must be to protect the privacy and rights of individuals living in this country.
This program was in fact approved by the Congress and the Bush administration authorized this program.
In what way is this collection of private information related to terrorism is unfathomable to most normal and sensible people except those who passed the legislation and performed this activity.
Veil of Protection
Under the veil of protection from terrorists, the intelligence organizations went on an information collecting rampage.
American domestic surveillance was used as an excuse to peek into email, phone conversations and web browsing patterns.
The personal information of millions of Americans was collected on huge database servers and the officers of the intelligence organization replayed and reread these conversations numerous times.
All this to ascertain that average Americans are not terrorists.
Necessary Evil?
Was there ever a need for American domestic surveillance?
Even a small child could have answered this question but the people who are supposed to represent American public, the so-called elected representatives whose moral and ethical duty is to uphold righteousness and interests of the public, failed to understand this.
When this incident came to light, there was an initial uproar among the public and in the media.
However, over time this incident was forgotten and people moved on to other governmental activities.
If the people in Washington are going to continue to remain callous by encouraging such nefarious and unethical activities, then it is time for the people to continue to protest against such policies and activities until it is stopped.
Taxpayers Foot the Bill
What did the NSA learn through these activities? Nothing.
American domestic surveillance is one of the outstanding examples to show how taxpayer’s money is thrown away into dead and unproductive activities that result in nothing except more embarrassment and hardship to the tax paying public.
Why should the Government even collect taxes if they are not going to be used to benefit the people in any way?
There are so many avenues that require money like health care, education and infrastructure. Every American has a right to know how his or her money is being spent and it is time to exercise this right in a meaningful manner.
Only a conscious, sustained, and concerted effort will protect the privacy and money of average Americans and this must be done as soon as possible to prevent any further damage to the American public.
