The Problems in the American Education System
Problems in the American Education System Cost the Taxpayers More Money. We Are Paying for Our Own Dumbing-Down; Our Children Are Becoming Labor Drones.
Problems in the American education system are profound and numerous.
Overcrowding in the classroom, the general tenor of disrespect toward teachers, and play-ground violence are but the tip of the iceberg.
Now, Obama says he will cure the problems by paying teachers more if their students show verifiable improvement. But is this unrealistic?
In many parts of our country, schools and classrooms are full of students who are committed to ignorance.
Is it reasonable to punish the teacher for such a class? Don’t the parents and the students themselves bear some responsibility?
Does this mean that these same teachers who are compensated will deliver and make sure children are taught more efficiently?
Money does not buy a quality education, nor does the commitment and desire to teach children result in higher grades in class.
However, the idea that those changes can be contributed to the school system is a good place to start.
The way the school system is set up with so many children to one teacher spells lots of problems.
Students are judged on the group effort rather on individual achievement, so it makes it harder for a child to succeed in a classroom that is overcrowded.
Teachers are not able to give one-on-one attention to each child due to the overflow.
The government does not offer each child an avenue for bringing their personality to the forefront to adapt to their own learning model.
Instead, the government requires that each child adapts to their educational model no matter if the child can grasp it or not.
There will continue to be problems in the American education system if some of these issues are not resolved.
Parental Involvement
If parents could only get more involved with their children’s education, it would certainly make it easier on teachers to do their jobs.
Teachers have to deal with behavioral problems that the child brings from home.
There is no parental support at home when children get homework, and this makes it harder on the teachers as well.
Most schools have parent-teacher meetings that parents do not attend. You then wonder why parents are out of tune with what is going on in their child’s education.
Parents do not check up on their children’s homework to make sure it is done.
They don’t call for teacher conferences when it is necessary, and then the problem gets out of hand and they blame other things.
There are many problems in the American education system, and because of that, it puts a negative spin on the children and the society at large.
The Result of those Problems
Due to the continued low standard of education and student behavior, graduation rates are lower than ever before in modern history.
Many children are dropping out of school because the expectations are higher than they can achieve.
Standardized testing may not determine the potential of a child. A lot of States have these tests only to make the school look good.
It is not only to see if these children are really learning and applying what they have learned.
The system is set up to see which school has a rating of A, B, C, D, or F.
It is so pathetic that government feels the need to put one school above the next with a two day testing process.
These problems in the American education system will never end if action is not taken to rectify it.
