When Dick Cheney Shoots
Dick Cheney Shoots a Man and Never Faces Prosecution.
There are a lot of that Dick Cheney has done that were against the law, but will he be charged with any of them?
Some people have called for Bush and Cheney to be tried for war crimes for their roles in the death of thousands of US soldiers and hundreds of thousands Iraqi citizens.
It’s also been suggested that Cheney should be brought up on charges in international court because of his support of and authorization for the use of torture against detainees.
But realistically there is little chance that Cheney will ever be prosecuted for his war crimes.
One thing that Cheney has proven is that he is able to skate away from incidents where any other man would have been charged with a crime.
When Dick Cheney shoots someone his victim practically apologizes to him for being in the way.
Because of the power that Cheney has and because he has such strong backing from the global elite there is almost no chance that Cheney will ever be held accountable for his actions.
Whether or not he is actually tried in criminal court it’s clear that Cheney is guilty of more than one crime.
Not all of his crimes are obvious, like when Dick Cheney shoots someone, but it’s very difficult to keep secrets in Washington and at some point the rest of Cheney’s actions and bad decisions will come back to haunt him.
Even though it’s unlikely that the US courts will try him for any type of war related crime the international court may still charge Cheney and Bush with war crimes at some point.
Based on the evidence that’s already been gathered both men should have been impeached, thrown out of office and tried long ago.
Bush never was impeached and Cheney was able to avoid prosecution along with Bush.
The world may never know if Cheney shot his friend deliberately in what was ultimately called a hunting accident but Cheney never faced any kind of punishment for that incident either.
Dick Cheney Shoots Friend
A very strong case can be made that Cheney should be impeached for war crimes.
The memo written by his top lawyer that bent the law enough to allow Bush to authorize torture and Cheney’s many public statements in support of torture make a strong case.
His memo telling White House staff to create a link between Al Queda and Saddam Hussein could be considered actionable as well.
He also tried to seize more power than he has been given through the Constitution which means he could have been tried for Constitutional offenses as well.
Why Never Prosecuted?
At various points in history lawyers and others have wanted to prosecute Cheney for his crimes but as the world saw if Dick Cheney shoots a man in the face and gets away with it the chances that he will be brought up on any kind of charges that stick is pretty remote.
Bush and Cheney did a very thorough job of covering themselves when they were in office by drafting memos and legislation that would exempt them from prosecution so in many cases they cannot be tried for crimes that committed even if everyone knows what they did.
The Shooting
One of the reasons why prosecutors never did attempt to charge Cheney when he shot his friend in the face during a hunting accident is because Cheney’s friend, the victim, adamantly opposed it.
Most people would want to make sure that someone who had shot them went to prison but Cheney’s friend declined to press charges.
