Where are Fascist Countries?
Fascist Countries Can Exist Anywhere.
Fascist countries rose to power in the economic and social turmoil of post World War I Europe.
The ideology of fascism at the time is most commonly linked to Hitler and Mussolini, but also existed in many other countries, including Spain, Japan, Austria and China.
Despite differences in the rise to power of various regimes, the affect on the people was the same, fear, violence, blood shed and want.
The ideology of fascism is not confined to one group, nation, religion or area of the world.
It can happen, and has happened on every continent, regardless of location, race, culture or religion of the population.
Regardless of where fascism takes root, there are common characteristics of fascist regimes.
In fascist countries, the fascists exert influence in all systems of society, including the military, police, education, religion, art and culture.
Fascist regimes have historically wrought bloodshed, violence, pain and death on the populace.
Fascism in Nazi Germany and Italy
Germany under Hitler and Italy under Mussolini are two of the best known examples of fascist countries in history.
Although there were differences in how they came to power, both men were fascist.
In Germany, Hitler and the Nazi Party achieved power legitimately through elections, not revolution.
However, he stretched and manipulated the German Constitution to achieve his goals of supremacy.
Fascism was aided in Germany with the help of corporations, both German and American.
Under Mussolini, productivity and labor were low, with consumer consumption dropping significantly.
Fascism Around the Globe
Fascist regimes existed in many countries in the years leading up to World War II.
While each regime had its own unique brand of fascism, all had similar characteristics and resulted in pain and hardship for the average citizen.
In Austria, the movement was known as Austrofascism or clerical fascism.
The government notoriously fired on flats where workers lived, killing over one thousand and wounding over four thousand. They were notorious for killing women and kids in their attacks.
Fascism in Spain began with the Spanish Civil War and subsequent overthrow of the Republican government by the fascist Nationalists.
In China, under the KMT regime, corruption ran rampant, causing inflation and famine.
The people were viewed as a source of food, information and soldiers to fuel the army.
Fascism Today
Fascist countries exist in the world today. Examples have been seen throughout the later half of the twentieth century in Latin American countries, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and even the United States.
The growing control of corporate interests in the policies of the government at the expense of the people, increased rhetoric of Nationalism, suppression and disdain for the rights of citizens and fraud in elections are just a few of the indications that fascism exists here in America.
Many believe the United States has been moving toward fascism for many years and the movement reached new heights under the Bush Administration, with rampant corporate control and corruption, combined with stripping away Constitutional rights.
